Magnesium stearate is a white loose powder, odorless and tasteless, delicate and free of sand particles, with a light characteristic aroma; Insoluble in water, cold ethanol, and ether, it decomposes into stearic acid and corresponding magnesium salts when exposed to strong acids.

Application

Magnesium stearate, as a fatty acid salt type anionic surfactant, is widely used in the daily chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
(1) Due to its good adhesion and lubricity to the skin, it can be used in powder products in cosmetics to enhance adhesion and lubricity;
(2) It can be used as a heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride, with stability similar to calcium stearate, and can be used in food packaging materials in combination with zinc soap or calcium soap;
(3) It can be used as a demolding agent for plastic products, as a raw material for cosmetic powders, moisturizers, as a powder molding agent for pharmaceutical tablets, and as a semi transparent smoothing agent for paints.
